Paths
Friday, August 11, 2006
I want to apologize for not having my weekly Christian-themed article up on Wednesday. Simply put, I didn't finish it; the research was taking too much time. I'll have try to have it posted this upcoming Wednesday. It will be about Biblical prophesies as means to justify the Christian faith, and I promise it will be worth the wait! Until then, here's a bit to nibble on.

It always bugs me how Christianity is sometimes grouped in with other religions (Islam, Buddhism, Atheism, Christianity, etc). Every other religion in the world is essentially the same in that they all have the same destination: eternal damnation in hell. Religion is simply a tool that Satan uses to draw people away from the Truth, being that Jesus is the only way to heaven. And he's pretty smart about it too; he makes people believe they have all these different options to choose from (the Buddhist path, the Hindu path, the Islam path, etc.); it's whatever works best for you, Satan tells us. Makes it sound kind of nice, doesn't it? In reality, there's only two paths: the Jesus way, or the highway (John 14:6).

I don't say this to offend anyone that's not a Christian; I say it out of a genuine love for others and desire for them to come to the Truth. I think I've emphasized it a million times on this site, but Christianity isn't a religion; religion don't get you saved. Christianity is a relationship with Jesus Christ; through it he transforms us to be like him (we can't do anything ourselves). That's all for now, a full article will be up Wednesday.

"Now Ive met the Dalai Lama. Now I've met fewer people more holy, more serene, more everything really that I would want to be. But hes not a Christian. I cant imagine God saying you know Dalai Lama, you are a neat man. But I wish you were a Christian. or Mahatma Gandhi- just look at how good you've been about non-violence and all of that kind of stuff. You would have got into heaven you know? I mean we make our God so small. No. GOD BELONGS TO ALL and ALL BELONG TO GOD."

Bishop Desmond Tutu is wrong. Perhaps he should open his Bible to John 14:6: “Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

I'd say that makes it His decision, not yours.

Again, just what is the standard for being a "good enough" person to go to heaven? Everyone's sinned, including the Dalai Lama and Gandhi, and hence no one deserves to go to heaven (including me). But God's grace, through faith in Him alone, cleanses us of our sins and makes us worthy for heaven (a gift available to ANYONE who'll believe).
